Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Bav Socheata

Bav Socheat is 16 years old. She is studying in 9th grade in Steng Chhay secondary school, in Kirivorn village, Steng Chhay commune, Kampong Sela district, Preah Sihanouk province.

There are three members in her family, one mother, and two daughters including her and she is a youngest daughter in her family. Bav SoCheata’s family is so poor. Her mother has broken from her father and her father has a second wife. Her family has own farmland for 0.5 hectares and they are gorwing rice and can produce rice is 1000kg in per year. Beside of doing farming of rice her mother raises some hens and ducks at home to get more money to support her daughters’ schooling. Cheata always ride her very old bike to school every day. She is a good daughter, after school she always helps her mother to do housework as like as: she helps feeding the hens and the ducks. In every five or six months So Cheata’s mother gets from $100 or $120 from raise the hens and ducks to support her whole family but it is not enough.

Bav Socheat wants to be a nurse when she grows up, because she loves it and she wants to help her family members and patients in her community.
