Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yong Houy

Yong Houy is a 7-year-old student in 2nd grade The Ascham School community, in Putang village, Romnea commune, Senmonorom district, Mondulkiri province.

Yong Houy has one brother. She is the first child in the family.  Her parents work at the field where growing cassavas, cashew and bananas (Annual income is $450). Besides working at the cassavas field, her parents are hired to pick peppers which earn $5 a day. Her father is also working at the rice field. However, the income isn’t regular and it isn’t enough to support the family. Phiel Penta helps her mother to do house work when her mother is away.
