Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khoeurn Somneang

Khoeurn Somneang is an 8-year-old student in 2nd grade The Ascham School community, in Putang village, Romnea commune, Senmonorom district, Mondulkiri province.

Khoeurn Somneang has two sisters and two brothers. She is the second child in the family. Her father had broken leg a few year ago because of traffic accident and he cannot work well.  Nowadays, her parents work at the field where growing cassavas and cashews (Annual income is $500). Besides working at the cassavas field, her parents are hired to pick pepper which earns 20.000 riel or $5 a day. However, the income isn’t regular and it isn’t enough to support the family. Khoeurn Somneang helps her mother to do house work when her mother was away.
