Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Mean Kanha

Mean Kanha is a 14 year- old student in 5th grade at The Vasaskolan School in Angbaksey village, Cheang Toung commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province.

Kanha has 8 siblings: thee brothers and five sisters. She is the fifth child in the family. Her parents are farmers. They own the 20 A of land and the rice yield is 15 baskets of rice per season. Besides doing farming, her parents make big baskets to earn 80000 Riel or $20 per month.  Her family cannot afford three meals per day. Kanha has to take care of the younger siblings. Other times she must stay home to help her mother with housework.
