Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ko La

Ko La is a 17 years old student in 8th grade at The ASIJ School which is located in Chup Krom village, Svay Leu commune, Svay Leu district, and Siem Reap province.

Ko La has gotten eight siblings including her. She is a third born in the poor family. Her parents are farmers. Unfortunately, they haven’t had big farmland to produce rice to feed the whole family like this. Presently, they have owned 30 meter width and 50 meter length of farmland for the rice transplantation and get 300kg to 500kg per year but it wasn’t enough to afford the family. Therefore, her parents have to find other jobs in order to get income to patch up the family needs. Ko La hasn’t attended the school frequently because she have to take care her younger sisters, younger brothers and cooked food for them at home.
