Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sau Sopheak

Sau Sopheak is a 13 years old student in grade 7 at the Green Family School in Takeo province, Kirivung district, Angbrasat commune, Chong Angbrasat village.

Sopheak is the older sister to her younger brother, and her family is very poor. Her family does not own any farmland, so both of her parents have gone to Phnom Penh to work in factories. While Sopheak’s parents are in Phnom Penh, she is living with her grandparents who provides food everyday, but does not have the financial means to support her otherwise.  While Sopheak is not at school, she helps her elderly grandparents with housework and taking care of her younger brother.
