Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ye Sophean

Ye Sophean is a 12 year- old student in Grade 3 at The Gloria and Henry Jarecki Special Skills School, #227, Norg Leak village, O’Chum commune, O’Chum district, Ratanakiri province.

She has three sisters. She is the second child in the family. Her parents are farmer. They have some land for growing rice and cashew trees. However, this land can hardly support the family for all their daily needs. Thus, they have to borrow money from their neighbors to buy rice and other food to feed the family. Sophean has to help with the housework and harvesting rice in the field.
