Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sorn Sreyri

Sorn Sreyri is a 12-year-old student in 5th grade at The Tokyo-West Rotary Club in Peam Khvav village, Dom Bokroung commune, Phnom Srouch District, Kampong Speu Province.

Sreyri has four siblings, two sisters and two brothers, and she is the eldest child in family. Her parents are farmer and own one hectare of farmland. They yield of rice farm is very low, only 1200kg of rice every year, because their land is in rain-fed area. In order to earn more money, her father works as a seasonal worker in rice threshing factory and this income is according to rice harvest seasons. Sreyri has to help her mother by doing housework every day. Those works make her to be absent from school very often.
