Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Eath Tangyi

Yi is a 12 years old student in Grade 5 at the Janie’s School in Snam Preah commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

There are nine members in her family. She has a brother and one sister. She is the second daughter in the family. They both are farmers. This family has very small farmland for growing rice in rainy season, so the family’s rice production is not enough. Every years, her family bought rice from the villagers. To get more extra income, her parents go to work outside as day laborers for all kinds of work. Her mother worked more as a worker for growing sugar stick tree and farm keeper. And her father worked more as a laborer at a brick making factory. They are really poor family.

Sometime she goes to help her father at the brick making factory. And her father sometimes gets drunk, and then has conflict with her mother at home too.
