Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Cheap Chanry is a 15 year-old student who entered the Girls Be Ambitious program in 2013. At the time, she enrolled in the sixth grade at The Wakako Hironaka School, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province. She is now in the seventh grade.

Chanry has a big family of 8 members, her parent, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her father and mother are farmer, they own some plot of land for growing paddy rice and as the main income for supporting the family.  But the yearly harvest is not able to provide them enough through the year, they have to work as a day labor to make more money. The extra job is not regular one and makes very little money about $2 to $3 per day only. Chanry had struggled for her study and sometimes late for her class, she helped her parent on the rice field during harvest season at home she cooks and collect water.

Chanry and her parent are very happy to receive the support from the program for her class attendance. She maintains her perfect attendance.
