Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Romam Yess

Romam Yess is a 15 year old girl who was selected into the Girls Be Ambitious Program in 2013. She is in seventh grade at The Sophie A. Krasowski School in Bo Kham Village in Ratanakiri Province.

Yess is the youngest child in a family of eight members. Her parents are poor farmers. They own a 2-hectare farming land which grows rice and potatoes. The harvest is not enough for their family needs. Yess often had to stay home in order to help her family and carried out chores around the house. Due to the hard conditions, Yess was often absent from her school.

With the support from the GBA program, Yess is very enjoying school. She maintains high attendance and has many friends who are among her classmates.
