Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Run Phary

Run Phary is 14 years old student in Grade 7 at the Janie’s School in Snam Preah commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

There are seven members in her family. She has one brother and one sister. She is the third child. They are both farmers. This family has about half hectare of farmland. In harvest season, they got about 350 kg of rice. This is not enough for feeding the seven members in the family. So, her father found another job as a motor taxi rider to get more income. He can earn about $3.75 to $5 a day. And sometimes, he gets nothing because nowadays, there are a lot of motor taxi riders like him. In order to her husband, her mother also found a job as a singer or Khmer traditional instrument player for wedding ceremony too. Her family was still in debts because they borrowed these moneys for some items in doing their job and some for growing rice in rainy season.
