Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Dy Sophay is a 9 year- old student in Grade 2 at The R.S. Rosenfeld School in Srah Khvav Village, Tbeng commune, Banteay Srey District, Siem Reap Province.

There   are six members   in   Sophay’s   family   and   she is the first daughter in the family. She has two brothers and one sister. The family is poor and does not have any farmland for growing rice. Because of the poverty in the family, there is not enough food and rice to eat or money to buy school supplies for the children. So two months ago her parents illegally went to work in Thailand. Since her parents left, they have never sent money home. Sophay and her siblings are living with her disable grandma. Sophay had to skip school and stay home to help her grandma with all the house chores and sometimes she had to collect the food from the forest.
