Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Ann Savean is a 9 year- old student in Grade 4 at The R.S. Rosenfeld School in Srah Khvav Village, Tbeng commune, Banteay Srey District, Siem Reap Province.

She has two brothers and two sisters. She is the fourth child in the family. The family is poor and does not have any farmland. Her father is a day-to-day laborer in the village. He earns a little money from harvesting rice, clearing up grass and doing other jobs for the neighbors. Savean’s mother makes basket that she sells locally, but this little business can only earn her between $ 2 and $3 per day. Because of the family’s grinding poverty, Savean has had to help carry out small tasks around the house, such as cooking and cleaning, and looking after her younger sister.
