Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phoeurn Dany

Phoeurn Dany is a 9-year-old student in 4th grade at The Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Dany has one sibling, a younger sister, and she is the eldest child in family. Her parents have immigrated to Thailand to work. Presently, Dany and her younger sister live with her grandparents. Her grandparents own one hectare of farmland, but they are old and her grandmother has problem with her leg, they cannot grow rice. Thus, they rent their farmland and get some rice in return. Her grandfather works as construction worker and it is not permanent income. Dany has to respond to do housework and to take care of her old grandmother.
