Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Heam Srey Mey

Heam Srey Mey is 14 years old, and she studies in 7th grade at Chey Yo Secondary School in O`paek village, Chey Yo Commune, Chamkaleu District, KampongCham Province

Heam Srey Mey is the second child in the family, with one younger brother. Her father name is Hang Heam, 42 years old and her mother is Mork Key, 44 years old.

She lives in O`veay village, Spheu commune, Chamkaleu district, Kampong Cham province. Her parents are fishermen .Her parents have a little farmland maybe 40A to pant rice or plant other crops to support their living. For her mother always go with her husband to fishing so far from their house and for Srey Mey, when she have free time from studying , she always look after house and her younger brother and cook for him when her parent have gone to fishing far from house. For income in her family, her parents caught from fishing a little only support their living, don’t have money to buy consumption daily of living especially shortage all material of studying.

As Srey Mey, she is study very hard and she is a good student in the class. After school, she helps her mother to look after her younger brother. In her free time, she likes to read the books and review the lessons from school.

For Srey Mey’s future goal: she wants to be a Good Teacher part of Khmer literature when she grows up. She wants to help all the kids in her village and also she wants to earn money to support her family too.
