Lour Sreyneang

Lour Sreyneang is a 12 years-old student in 7th grade at The Naohiro Nishiya School in Tbaung Teuk Village, Meanrith Commune, Sandann District, and Kampong Thom Province.

Lour Sreyneang has gotten five brothers and she is the first child in family. Her parents are farmers but they don’t have their own land for growing rice. Therefore, they have rent the land of their neighbor to transplant the rice in order to comfort their living. Otherwise, the yield they have gotten from rice cultivation was fewer amounts. They have got about seven sacks of rice per year and for the half amount of these seven sacks of rice they have had to recompense to the landlord.

Sreyneang’s parents have foreseen they couldn’t afford the family sufficiently so the father of Sreyneang has forcefully decided to go to the jungle to find wild animal and cutting wood to sell. Whereas Sreyneang said that, sometimes she was hired to work at the rice field in order to get some incomes to support her family’s needs. And the income that she has ever received the hiring was about $4.00 per day.
