Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Thor Sreynich

Thor Sreynich is a 12-year-old student in 5th grade at The Nicholas and Zachary Poor School in Mouy village, Tropheang Ches commune, Khonmom district, Ratanakiri province.

Sreynich has three siblings, one sister and two brothers, and she is third child in family. Her parents are farmers who own one hectare of farmland. They don’t have money to buy fertilizer, so the yield of rice is very low and this small amount cannot feed this family. Thus, her father works as construction worker, but it is still not permanent income because it is depend on need of labor. Sreynich has to help her mother to do chores in house and sometimes in rice field.
