Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Pev Sokna

Sokna is a 15 years old student in Grade 5 at the Janie’s School in Snam Preah commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

There are six members in her family. She has one brother. She is the second child. Her parents went to work as laborers at the construction site in Thailand. Her family doesn’t have any farmland. Before they leave their village to work at Thailand, they used to work as renting farmer for rice field of the villagers. Because of the low income, they can’t survive. So her parents and her brother decided to go to Thailand with some other villagers too. Now, Sokna lives with her old retired grandparents who can’t do anything.
