Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khnol Morch

Khnol Morch is 16 years old student in 9th grade at Dormitory School, which is located in Banlung town of Ratanakiri province.

Khnol Morch is an ethnic minority student. She has two brothers and one sister. Her parents are farmers and they live far from Banlung town about 15km. They have two hectares of farmland to plant cashew nut’s trees and another part of free land is to manage for growing rice.

However, Morch confirmed despite her parents planted the cashew nut’s trees but a big amount of the cashew nut’s trees were died because of a carelessness that they didn’t have much money to buy any fertilizers to fresh up them and to make them fruitfully. So that they didn’t receive good profit from the cashew nut’s planting.

As for growing rice her parents could collect only 500 kg per year and that rice’s amount is kept for daily consuming for a whole year only. Certainly, being the farmers are really difficult to earn enough money to support the family so they were always employed to work at the villagers’ farms and get about 7 US dollars a day in order to manage family’s food.

In the future, Morch wants to be a teacher because she thinks that being a teacher is better than the farmers. Anyway she would like to provide the education and share her knowledge to the next generation.
