Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Lam Phanna

Phanna is a 11 year-old student who entered the Girls Be Ambitious program in 2013. At the time, she enrolled in the fifth grade at The Wakako Hironaka School, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province. She is now in the sixth grade.

She and her younger brother were adopted to live with her grandmother since she was very young. Her father passed away due to bad health conditions, and her mother had gone to work in other province. Phanna’s grandmother is a poor farmer, and makes very little income make their living nor to support the two grandchildren. Phanna has done everything to make money, she catch the crab or sells vegetables.

Phanna’s grandmother is happy for her attend and enjoy her schooling with the support from the Girls Be
Ambitious program. She maintains her perfect attendance.
