Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khun Lisa

Khun Lisa is 12 years old and she is a student in grade 5 at The Janie’s School #524 in Snam Preah Village, Snam Preah Commune, Bakan District, Pursat Province.

Khun Lisa has two sisters and she is the first child in the family. Her father’s name is Kheurm Sokhun and he is 37 years old. He is a farmer and he also helps his wife to sell fishes at the market that can earn more income about $2,5 to $5 in a day. And her mother’s name is Heurn Sina and she is 39 years old. She is a farmer and a fish seller at the market. Additionally, Lisa’s family have owns farmland for one hectare for growing rice in raining season which they are able to collect about 25 bags of rice for selling and feed the whole family in the whole year. Her sister is a student in grade 2 at the seam her school.

Khun Lisa is a good student and she studies very hard and after school she always helps her mother to do house work and look after her sister.

In the future she wants to become a primary school teacher. She wants to teach the children know how to read and write their native Khmer language because right now there are a lot of students who are her classmates can’t even write or read. So she loves to help them for learning Khmer. Moreover, She wants to support her family to live in a better life.
