Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khuoy Srey Tiv

Tiv is 12 years old, student in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Banteay Meas District, Kampot province.

Tiv has 4 siblings and she is the third child in the family. Her father‘s name is Khuoch Sor and her mother’ name Set Toch, both of them are farmers. The family owns haft hectare of farmland where they can produce rice and earn about $200 a year from rice production. Beside the farm work, her parents plant some vegetable to sell at market and they can earn about $3 to $4 a day. All income is not enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday school needs. As a result, Tiv commonly has to miss school to stay home and help her mother taking care of her younger siblings and help in the rice field and other housework.

Tiv wants to be a teacher in her community. She wants to teach all kids in her location. Also, she wants to build girl up and give the women encouragement. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
