Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Hib Norea

Hib Norea is a 17 years old student in 11th grade at The ASIJ School which is located in Chup Krom village, Svay Leu commune, Svay Leu district, and Siem Reap province.

Norea has gotten seven members in her family, her parents, two younger sisters and two younger brothers and herself. She is the first child in the family. Her parents are farmers and they have half hectare of farmland for growing rice and could get 1,000kg per year. They have sold 500kg of this to reimburse the fertilizer’s shop. Norea narrated that besides transplanting rice, her parents still tried to find some income from other ways in order to patch up the family’s needs. So that they were employed as the cashew nuts picker and sometimes they got $10 to $15 per day regarding they collected more or less. Event of this income, they have still not enough money to support their family. Whereas Norea, besides studying she helps her parents take care of her young siblings and cleaning house.
