Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Huot Sreymao

Sreymoa is a 13 year-old student who entered the Girls Be Ambitious program in 2013. At the time, she enrolled in the sixth grade at The Wakako Hironaka School, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province. She is now in the seventh grade.

Sreymao has two sisters. Her parents passed away not long after she was born, she and her sister were adopted to live with her aunt since they were very young. Her aunt is a farmer who husband is a construction worker, they both make little money and struggle to support their family, Sreymao and sister. So she sometimes helps her aunt on the rice field during harvest season.

Sreymao, now happy with her study and with the support from the Girls Be Ambitious Program she hopes she would able to make it to high school. She maintains her perfect attendance.
