Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Lorn Manith is 14 years old, and in the 9th grade at the Hun Sen Rovieng secondary school in Tang Trork village, Robieb commune, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province.

There are 4 members in her family, her parents, and younger sister. She is the first child in her family. Her parent do not have any land for farming, so her mother and farther work as day laborers, earning 30,000 – 40,000 Riel per day. But it is not a regular job and they earn a very little income to support the family and their needs. The family sometimes does not have enough food to eat. Moreover, her mother was selling some groceries and some cakes at home to make money to support their living.

Manith rides the bicycle to school every day, when she gets home, she always help mother with housework, take care and teach her younger sister, do chores and cook for the family.

In the future she wants to be a doctor because she wants to help all the people in her country. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family. And when she has money, she will create and own a small business of her own.
