Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Moun Hea is a 10 year- old student in Grade 2 at The R.S. Rosenfeld School in Srah Khvav Village, Tbeng commune, Banteay Srey District, Siem Reap Province.

She is the first child in the family. She has two sisters. They have a piece of land for growing rice, which produces about a tone of rice per year. However, they had to sell out the rice to pay back all the debt that they had spent during the farming process, such as the expenses on fertilizing and watering the farm; the expense on hiring people to plow, to pull out and plant the rice seeding.  Of course, farming for the farmers is just to kill the time because they have to work hard, but to gain a little. Even so, they have to do it because they have no other choice. Besides farming, her parents also work as a worker for their neighbors (sometimes they are hired to pull out the potatoes, chop the potatoes, and collect the potatoes for the neighbors). While her parents go out to work, Hea has to take care of her young sisters, and do chores around the house .
