Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Samphors is 12 years old, student in grade 7th at The Diris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Banteay Meas district, Kampot province.

She is the third child in the family. She has a brother and a sister. Her father’ name Dum Toch and her monther’ name Kong Srey. Her poor family earns a living by doing farm work on a haft hectare of farmland. The entire rice produce in each year, they cannot sell just keep to eat during a year and not even enough. However, this land can hardly support the family for all their daily needs. In addition to farm work, her father has to find extra labor work such as helping harvest rice for other villager or go to work as a construction worker for neighbors to make extra money to support the family. Because of this difficult situation, Sampors has to look after her siblings and help with housework. The busy house works pull her down from her class attendant in each month.

In the future, Samphors wants to be a teacher so she can share her knowledge to all the kids in her village. Also, she want to earn money to help her family to live with a better life.
