Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Naem Syneth

Syneth is a 12-years-old student in 6th grade at The Cambodia Hope Schoolin Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Her mother and her father got a divorced many years ago. Syneth’s father married a new wife and then never cared for her or her brothers. Syneth’s mother is a farmer and has about a half a hectare of farmland. It can produce 1,000 kg of rice per year. However, this is only the ideal output because they need to barter for fertilizer and other expenditures during the farming process. Besides working on their own farm, her mother sometimes harvests rice for the neighbor’s field. With this job Syneth’s mother only earns about $5.00, which is not enough to support the family.
