Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Tes Bopha

Tes Bopha is a 14 -year-old student in 7th grade at The Bret Harte Middle School/Almaden Community in Sangker Doch village, Sdech Kong Tbaung commune, Banteay Meas district, Kompot province.

Bopha was born in a poor family with 6 siblings and she is the youngest child in the family. Despite of poverty, she has strong passion to learn and she wishes to pursue her study until graduate from a university. Her parents are farmer who own about a hectare of farmland and two cows for doing rice farm. Their farmland is in rain-fed area, so the production is low. Bopha has to help her parents in rice field and work in neighbors’ rice field during harvest season to earn more money.
