Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Lorn Kunthea

Lorn Kunthea is a 9-year old student in 4th grade at The Wakako Hironaka School, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province.

Kunthea from a big family of 13 members, she has ten siblings, three sisters and seven brothers. Her family owns some farming land, which they grow paddy rice and potatoes to make their living. However, the yearly harvest is not cover enough to respond to their needs and support the big family. Kunthea and her siblings have to work hard on rice field and as a day labor sometimes to help the family. Kuthea sometimes sells vegetable in her neighborhood for some money, cook for the family when they all away on the field and take care her younger siblings.

Kuthea was struggled to enjoy her schooling and childhood in her age to do all the work she can do for her family and for herself.

 

Kuthea is very happy to be selected into the GBA program with the support to attend school regularly.
