Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Son Sreyhor

Son Sreyhor is 18 years old student in 8th grade at The IROHA School which is located in O Svay village, O Svay commune, Thalaborivath district, and Stung Treng province.

Sreyhor has two sisters including her. She is the last born in the family. Her parents are farmers and they have owned 20 square meters of farmland for growing rice and get about 150kg to 200kg per year. After rice harvesting, her father creates charcoal ovens and selling these to settle the family’s needs because the rice production is not enough feed her family for a whole year.

Sreyhor said that her father has sold charcoals once a month and he earned $50. Therefore, sometimes she works with the neighbors to get little income for supporting her her schooling. After school, she help her parents at home.

For her last purpose, she wished to be a teacher of Khmer literature and mathematics because she prefers to teach these subjects to the next generation.
