Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chuon Leap

Chuon Leap is a 12 year- old student in Grade 3 at The Gloria and Henry Jarecki Special Skills School, #227, Norg Leak village, O’Chum commune, O’Chum district, Ratanakiri province.

She has three brothers. She is the third child in the family. Her parents are farmers. Her family has some land for growing rice and cashew trees. However, this land can hardly support the family for all their daily needs. Farming for the farmers is just to kill the time because they have to work hard, but to gain a little. Even so, they have to do it because they have no other choice. Leap had to help carry out small tasks around the house and look after her younger brother.
