Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Morm Chiva

Morm Chiva is a 16 year- old girl who was selected into Girls Be Ambitious Program in 2015. She is now in grade 10 at The Margaret & Derek Jerram School in Kraul Chi Village, Kraul Chi Commune, Boribo District in Kampong Chhnang Province. She is very happy and is working hard to maintain perfect school attendance.

Chiva is the eldest of her two brothers. They have a piece of land for growing rice, which produces about 800 Kg of rice per year. However, they had to sell out all the rice to pay back all the debt that they had spent during the farming process. For additional income, her parents have to work as farm laborers in the village. Before Chiva was selected for the GBA program, she was unable to attend school because she had to help her family with all the work around the house as well as on the farm.
