Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhorn Chhinlin

Chhorn Chhinlin is a 14-year-old student in 7th grade at The Bret Harte Middle School/Almaden Community in Sangker Doch village, Sdech Kong Tbaung commune, Banteay Meas district, Kompot province.

Chhinlin was born in a poor family with two siblings and she is the oldest child in the family. Despite of poverty, she has a big ambition to become a doctor in the future. Her parents are farmer who own about a hectare and two cows for doing rice farm. Their farmland is in rain-fed area, so the production is low and the yield is about 1.000kg. Chhinlin has to help her parents in rice field and work in neighbors’ rice.
