Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Dan Horg

Dan Horg is a 14-year-old student in 7th grade at The Bret Harte Middle School/Almaden Community in Sangker Doch village, Sdech Kong Tbaung commune, Banteay Meas district, Kompot province.

She is the oldest child in the family. She has four siblings. Her parents do farming. They can earn around 500$ per year. This income cannot support the whole family. Sometimes, they need to work for other villagers or find other jobs as a seasonal worker when the farming season is ended. Hong sometimes is absent from school to go to the rice field to help her parents and she looks after the house and her younger siblings.
