Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Thach Nang Ra

Thach Nang Ra entered Girls Be Ambitious Program in October 2013. Now she is a 13 year-old student in Grade 6 at the Gloria and Henry Jarecki Special Skills School in Norg Leak Village in Ratanakiri Province.

She is first child in the family. Her parents are poor farmers. They own one hectare of land for growing rice and cassava. However, this land can hardly support the family for all their daily needs. Living under the hard conditions, Nang Ra had to skip classes and help her family to do house work.

With the support from the GBA program, Nang Ra has been doing well for her study performance. She uses her salary ($10 per month) to buy clothes, school supplies, and some other daily items.
