Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phat Phary is an 11-year-old student in 6th grade at The Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Phary has one sibling, a younger brother, and she is the eldest child in family. Because of poverty, her mother has decided to immigrate to work in Thailand and she sends some money back to support family in Cambodia. Presently, Phary lives with her father and a younger brother. Her father works as construction worker, but it is not permanent income for this poor family. As the only daughter in family, she has to respond to do all chores in house and to take care of her younger brother.
