Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yol SreyNin

Yol SreyNin is an 11-years-old student in 4th grade in The Lefkowitz Family School in Koh Ta Korn village, Beung Bat Kandol commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

SreyNin has 5 siblings, two sisters and three brothers and she is the third child in her family.  Her parents are rice farmer. Her mother names Phon Pherk, ages 38 and her father names Yol Phok, ages 42,  Her parents has the land of(1600 square meters) of the rice field. If has enough water by the rain, Her parents live a small old house with roofed by zinc and walled by the palm leaves s when it rains it leaks some parts. Nowadays, her parents work as construction worker and have no money send home. SreyNin lives with her aunt, she is a poor farmer. When the rice harvest season comes, SreyNin takes her free time to work for villagers help harvesting rice and she earns some money, approximately $2.5 per day for buying food. She skips school many times.
