Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phorn Lika

Lika is15 years old, and she is in grade 10 at Ben Teay Meas high School in Tuk Meas village, Tuk Meas Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

She is the second child in the family. She has two brothers. Her father’ name Mr. Horn Phach and her mother’ name Mrs. Teth Sokha.  Her parents are farmers. They have about a half of a hectare of farmland, in which to produce 750 kg of rice per year. After the harvest season, her father is a construction worker, collecting stones and doing other farm work that neighbors hire him to do. For this type of work, he gets 25,000 riels per day. The income is still not enough to support the family because they need to buy food, school uniform, clothes and other daily used items.

Lika wants to be a teacher; she wants to share her knowledge to all kids in her area. She also wants to help financing support to her family.
