Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Dany is 14 years old and she is in grade 8 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

She is the second child in the family and she has four siblings. Her father’ name Mr. Tuon Vanna and her mother’ name Mrs. Moul Srey. Her parents do farming. The family owns one hectare of farmland, they can earn up $400 a year in rice product. As this is not enough money to support the family’s needs, Dany’s father has to go on strip to work as a construction worker for others.  One day he can earn $7.  Even with this additional income, it still not enough money to support the family and their children’s daily needs. Dany has to miss school to help taking care her siblings and help in the rice field.

Dany wanted to be a teacher in her commune; she wants to teach all kids. She thinks that, it is a good job for her. She wants to help her family to be better.
