Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Roman Aun

Roman Aun is a 7 year old girl who was selected into Girls Be Ambitious Program. Now, she is in her 3rd grade at The Sophie A. Krasowski School in Bo Kham Village in Ratanakiri Province.

Aun is the fourth in the family of seven members. Her parents are very poor farmers who own a very small plot of land for growing rice, potatoes and cashew nuts. The harvest from this farming is not productive and the income from selling the products is not enough to meet the needs of the family. So, they have to work for their neighbors for extra money. Due to these difficult conditions, Aun skipped many classes and helped her family with the farming and house chores.

After the staff from GBA talked to Aun and her farmily, they understand the benefits of the studies. Now, the family supports Aun to go back to school and she is very happy to be in her classes again.
