Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Voeurn Theavy

Voeurn Theavy is a 10-year-old student in 3rd grade at The Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Theavy has no sibling; she is the only child in family. Her parents don’t own any farmland. Her mother weaves pieces of bamboo to make a kind of fishing equipment (Phorng), she can get $1.25 per one item. Her father is a worker who digs wells, he often spends his money to drink alcohol and he frequently commits domestic violence when he is drunk. Theavy usually helps her aunt to do chores in her house to get some money or food. Theavy also has to help her mother to do housework every day.
