Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ret Sreynak

Ret Sreynak is 16 years old student in 9th grade at The IROHA School which is located in O Svay village, O Svay commune, Thalaborivath district, and Stung Treng province.

Sreynak was born in a poor family and she has gotten five siblings including her. She is the fourth born in the family. They have owned one hectare of rice paddy field and could produce 40 to 50 sacks of rice per year. One sack of rice contains about 50kg to 60kg. After rice harvesting, her parents sold 30 sacks to payback the fertilizer shop and other needed. This income has not enough to support her family. Therefore, sometimes she asks permission from school for a few days off in order to find little supplementary income with her parents.

For her future goal, she wishes to be a mathematics and English language teacher because she prefers to teach these subjects to the next generation.
