Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Van Srey To

Van Srey To is a 12years old student in 4th grade The Nishimachi International School in Kirivorn Village, Steng Chhay Commune, Kompong Seila District, Sihanouk Ville Province.

Srey To has three siblings: a brother and two sisters.  She is the youngest sister. Her parents are farmers but they don’t have their own land for growing rice. Therefore, they have rent the land of their neighbor to transplant the rice in order to comfort their living. Otherwise, the yield they have gotten from rice cultivation was fewer amounts.

After yearly harvest season, Srey To’s father is also a logger and he can earn about $3.00 to $4.00 per day. The income is not regular. However, her father tried to work hard as logger, but the daily expenses of the family couldn’t work out sufficiently.
