Samsan Chansokhavtey

Samsan Chansokhavtey is a 14 years old student in 8th grade at The Margaret & Derek Jerram School, which is located in Kraul Chi village, Popel commune, Boribo district, and Kampong Chhnang province.

Chansokhavtey has gotten five members including her. She is a third born in the family. Her parents are farmers. They have their own farmland but it’s small about 30 meters of width and 50 meters of length. Chansokhavtey narrated according to the current living condition of her family they have produced rice and they could get for 1 ton and half of rice’s output per year. After the rice’s yield collection her parents had sold out for one ton of rice and got $200 of benefit.

Chansokhavtey complained, although her parents could receive for $200 from selling rice but that benefit was insufficient to hold on their daily needs. Therefore, her father has had to seek another job to work as the construction worker and he benefited for $5 per day in order to patch up on food but it was not regularly income. Presently, her parents have planted some yam and cassava for sale.

Regarding Chansokhavtey, she hasn’t attended the school regularly because sometimes, her parents asked her to help take care of the cows at the rice field.
