Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Run Rachana

Run Rachana was born on May 14th, 2003 in Morhor Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. She is a student in 9th grade at The Kozak Ohana School #285 or Trapaing Arak Secondary School. It is located in Trapaing Arak Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province.

Rachana is 15 years old and she lives with her grandmother and uncle. Her father passed away when she was young, and her mother is a factory worker in Phnom Penh. Rachana’s family owns one hectare of land, in which they can produce 700kgsof rice per year. It is not enough feed the family for long, so her uncle works in construction to help support the family. Rachana’s uncle ears $5-7 a day. While Rachana’s mother and uncle are at work, Rachana is responsible to maintain the house work and take care of her elderly grandmother.
