Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sam An Nimol is16 years old, and in the 9th grade at the Rak Smey Rik Reay junior high school in Bos Village, Rik Reay Commune, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province.

There are 6 members in her family, two parents, two older sisters and one older brother. She is the fourth child in her family. Her parents are farmers who own about one and a half hectares of farmland for growing rice, which can produce 1,000 – 1,500 kg of rice a year. In addition to working on their own farm, Nimol and her mother also work on neighboring farms, earning 15,000 riels to 20,000 Riel a day.

Nimol is a good student and daughter. She works hard in class and continues her hard work when she gets home by helping her mother with housework and chores.

In the future she wants to be a teacher because she wants to share her knowledge with the kids and wants to earn money to support her family.
