Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sau Sopheak

Sopheak is 13 years old and she is a student in grade 7 at The Green Family School in Takeo province, Kirivung district, Angbrasat commune, Angbrasat village.

There are three members of her family. She has got one mother, one brother and her. She is the oldest child in her family. Her family is poor and they do not farmland and nowadays her mother has worked as a housemaid in Phnom Penh now who she can earn income $100 from her position. Now Sopheak is living with grandparents and they are supporting food every day. Sopheak’s mother always entrusts a little money to support her school supplies. Sopheak always goes to school and comes back for an old bicycle ride. Furthermore, Sopheak always helps her grandmother with housework and takes care of youngest brother.

Sopheak wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She loves the position very much. Moreover, she would like to assist patients in rural villages. In consideration, she thinks that rural villagers have not enough money for private hospitals. And she glorifies the domain of health and would love the rural people to believe in the state hospital that all the doctors really try their best to take care of the patients. Furthermore, Sopheak would love to earn money to support her family in the future when she is going to succeed in her aspiration.
