Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Seng Nita is an eleven-year-old student in the fifth grade at Wat Thmey primary school located in Takhong village, Trean commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham Province.

Nita has three siblings, one brother and two sisters. She is the second child in the family. Her mother is a housewife and her father has passed away.  Nita lives with her mother and grandmother in a very poor and difficult situation.  Her family does not own any land to grow rice, so her family has to buy rice to eat.  To help financially support the family, Nita’s brother works as a seasonal worker, earning 30,000 Riels a day.

Nita is a good student and tries very hard to study. When she is not at school she always helps with housework.

In the future, she wants to be a doctor, so she can help support her family. Additionally, her grandmother is sick, so she wants to be able to learn about medicine and help her.
